Entebbe Town is about 37 kilometres south west of Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. It is located in the Central Uganda on the North shores of Lake Victoria, the largest fresh water lake in Africa. It is also the location of the State house and the Entebbe International Airport which is Uganda’s biggest commercial and military airport. The name of the town derived from a Luganda word ‘e ntebe’ that means a seat and was named that because it’s where the chief of the Baganda sat solve legal cases.

Entebbe town holds a lot of Ugandan history. It was once the capital city of Uganda in the early 1900, the capital was changed to Kampalaright after Uganda attained independence in 1962. It was also the seat of the colonial governor for the protectorate prior to independence hence being named Entebbe. The town is also famous for the rescue of the 100 Israeli passengers that were held hostage in 1976.

Entebbe town has a tropical climate with a lot of attractions like the zoo, also known as the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre where you can find assorted species of birds and animals all in one place. Other attractions include the historical site in Kigungu where the first catholic missionaries Brother Amans and Father Mon Maple Lourdel landed to establish the catholic faith in Uganda, we also have the botanical gardens, beaches by the lake and the islands nearby. Entebbe is also home to the Entebbe Golf Club, which is the oldest golf course in East Africa established in 1900.
